Intensive Karatala Course
In this introductory course, you will learn how to properly hold and handle the karatals. You will also learn how to play the most common beats (tin-taal, lofa-taal and double beat) along with simple ornamentations in order to better serve the Harinama-sankirtana-yajna.

About The Event
In this introductory course, you will learn how to properly hold and handle the karatals. You will also learn how to play the most common beats (tin-taal, lofa-taal and double beat) along with simple ornamentations in order to better serve the Harinama-sankirtana-yajna.
You will learn:
- Purchasing and preparing the karatals
- How to properly hold and handle the karatals
- Basic beat (tin-taal) along with ornamentation
- Two-er beat (lofa-taal) with ornamentation
- Fast beat (double speed) with ornamentation
- Properly authorized mantras for all beats which are being taught
- How to practically apply the beats in kirtan and in various songs
Requirements
Own pair of karatals; physical course attendance; WhatsApp; eagerness to learn
Details
- The course will start on Sat, 2nd July with a theory block of 2 hours
- Practical classes will be held in 2 groups on Mondays: July 4, 11, 18 and 25 (from 6:30pm-7.15pm; or 7:30pm-8.15pm respectively)

About facilitator
Sandesh Mataji (Sabina Seeger) has been serving at ISKCON Zürich since 2001 whenever she was in Switzerland (making flower garlands and kirtan; serving Harinama-sankirtana in the streets). Besides that, she was living in Vraja-dhama (Vrindavan and Radhakund) from 2008-2020 (on and off), serving at the ladies-kirtan at Srila Prabhupada’s samadhi and singing for departing Vaishnavas at the Bhaktivedanta Hospice. She had previously taught karatal-lessons at several VIHE-retreats in Vrindavan/at Goverdhana.
